Gardinia commissions with Pick by Voice
After the start in 1950 with a patented wooden rail, Gardinia was able to establish itself early as an important supplier of curtain technology and sun protection systems. Meanwhile the enterprise possesses addresses in completely Europe. In order to optimise intralogistics at its headquarters in Isny in the south bavarian region, Gardinia relies on Lydia® Voice from topsystem. Thanks to the Pick by Voice solution, handheld devices no longer have to be used for picking. This further increases efficiency, process quality and ergonomics.
Since the 1950s, Gardinia has been supplying sun protection systems and curtain technologies to specialist stores for interior decoration, furniture dealers and, above all, DIY stores throughout Europe. Products such as curtain rails and curtain rods are picked in the 15,000 square metre logistics centre at the Isny site. The warehouse employees process 1,300 orders per day. The articles are 40 centimeters to four meters long and are sometimes stored at a height of 2.20 meters, which is why input devices or paper lists would interfere with picking.
By using Pick by Voice, Gardinia was able to significantly increase productivity in picking long goods. With the introduction of Lydia® Voice, the MDE devices were replaced by the Voxter® Scan Elite Edition back-of-hand scanner. According to topsystem's hands-free / eyes-free concept, order pickers can now fully focus on their core tasks and work faster and more ergonomically. "Lydia® Voice enjoys a high level of acceptance among our employees. Having my hands free and being able to easily retrieve all the necessary information on the way to the storage location - this is a considerable relief to work", explains Sven Klaus, Head of Logistics Germany and Eastern Europe at Gardinia, and adds: "I was also particularly impressed that we were able to further improve our process quality with Pick by Voice. I really hadn't expected that, because we were already very strong in this area before".
